Chess is an important game that has been played for centuries and has many benefits for those who play it. It is a game that can help individuals develop crucial skills, such as strategic and analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and creativity. Playing chess can also enhance memory, concentration, and overall cognitive abilities, which are critical skills that can be valuable in many areas of life.

The ADA school has organized a fascinating chess tournament were children from different schools got engaged and further developed their abilities at playing this complex game. The event was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of a truly great leader, Heydar Aliev. We had participants from about 10 other schools such as: school #132-134, IDRAK Lyceum, school #6, Azerbaijan British College, Elite Gymnasium named after Ilyas Efendiev, school #23, Oxford School, The International School of Azerbaijan, Humanities Gymnasium named after S.J.Pishevari, Landau School and ADA School.

Moreover, we invited Aynur Sofiyeva, the first chess International Grandmaster in Azerbaijan and in the Islamic world, the former president of Chess Federation (now she is Deputy Chair of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs). We want to further encourage our students to participate in extracurricular activities and develop the crucial analytical skills for succeeding in the future. That’s why our team continuously organizes interesting events and motivates the pupils to become more skilled and talented.

As a school, organizing events such as the chess tournament is crucial as it provides opportunities for students to participate in extracurricular activities and develop their skills and abilities beyond academic studies. Encouraging students to engage in such activities helps to broaden their horizons and enhances their overall academic performance. Through such events, students can learn important life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Additionally, extracurricular activities like chess can provide a sense of community, which helps to promote a positive school environment.

In conclusion, chess is an essential game that has many benefits, and organizing tournaments like the one done by the ADA School can further develop students’ abilities and skills. By encouraging students to participate in such events, schools can help build well-rounded individuals with the necessary skills to succeed in various areas of life.
